I'm going to teach you how to monetize beyond ads with 11 different ideas to help you make money blogging.
I've been blogging for over 10 years, and I've been making a full-time income from my blog for the past 7 years. I've been able to do this without relying solely on ad revenue.
Ads are a great way to make money blogging, but they're not the only way. In fact, there are many other ways to make money from your blog that can be even more profitable.
1. Sell a Product
Selling a product is a great way to make money with your blog. You can sell digital products, physical products, or even dropship products.
Digital products are great because you can create them once, and then sell them over and over again. Some examples of digital products you can sell are printables, ebooks or courses.
2. Offer a Service
If you have a skill that you can offer as a service, this is an excellent way to monetize your blog. This could be anything from virtual assistant services, social media management, copywriting, graphic design, or web design.
I started out as a virtual assistant and a social media manager before I became a full-time blogger. I was able to grow my blog and my business and quit my 9 to 5 job in just a few short years.
Blogging is a very in-demand industry, and there are so many businesses and other bloggers who need help with their content. If you have a skill that you can offer as a service, you can start a service-based business and monetize your blog that way.
3. Create a Course
If you have a skill or knowledge on a specific topic that you think other people would love to learn, you can create a course!
There are so many platforms where you can host your course, but my personal favorite is Thinkific.
You can create a course on anything! I have seen courses on how to grow a specific plant in your garden to how to start a business.
This is a great way to monetize your knowledge!
4. Host a Webinar
Webinars are a great way to connect with your audience and provide value. You can host a free webinar and then pitch a paid product or service at the end. You can also record Zoom meetings to repurpose key insights for blog content or paid courses
You can also host a paid webinar where you charge a fee for people to attend. This is a great way to make money quickly and can be a good fit if you don't have a product or service to sell yet.
5. Write a Book
If you have been blogging for a while, you have a lot of content. You can take your best content and turn it into a book. The book can be a physical book, an e-book, or an audio book.
You can also write a book about something that you haven't blogged about. For example, if you are a food blogger, you could write a cookbook. If you are a fashion blogger, you could write a book about fashion. If you are a travel blogger, you could write a book about your travels.
Writing a book can be a lot of work, but it can also be very rewarding. Not only can you make money from book sales, but you can also use your book as a way to get more exposure for your blog.
6. License Your Content
If you take the time to write a blog post, you should be able to sell that content to other websites and publications.
In the past, I've written blog posts for my own site and then sold them to other websites, magazines, and even newspapers.
You can also license your content for use in marketing materials, presentations, and more.
This is a great way to get paid for the same work over and over again.
7. Become a Brand Ambassador
Becoming a brand ambassador is similar to sponsored content, but it's a longer-term relationship with a brand.
As a brand ambassador, you'll be promoting the brand's products or services over a longer period of time, such as a few months or even a year.
You'll also be expected to create more content for the brand, such as blog posts, social media posts, videos, etc.
In exchange, you'll be compensated with a monthly or yearly fee, as well as free products or services from the brand.
Brand ambassadorships are a great way to build long-term relationships with brands and to secure a steady stream of income.
8. Create a Paid Membership Area
A paid membership area is a portion of your blog where you provide exclusive content to your members. This content could be courses, tutorials, videos, printables, and more.
The key is that it is all exclusive to your members. You can also add a community aspect to your membership area by including a forum or Facebook group.
Membership areas are a great way to provide a lot of value to your audience and create an ongoing, monthly income for your blog.
You can charge your members a monthly fee to access your membership area, and if you have a lot of great content in there, you'll likely have a lot of people who then become leads in your sales engagement platform that will want to join.
The best part is that you can continue to add new content to your membership area and grow your income over time.
9. Sell Your Blog
Selling a blog can be a lucrative way to make money online. There are two main ways to sell a blog:
- Auction sites like Flippa
- Direct sales
Flippa is the most popular website for buying and selling websites. To list your blog for sale on Flippa, you'll need to provide information about your blog, including traffic, revenue, and expenses. You'll also need to set a reserve price, which is the minimum amount you're willing to sell your blog for.
If you'd rather not go through an auction, you can also sell your blog directly to a buyer. This can be a good option if you have a buyer in mind, or if you want more control over the sale.
When selling a blog, it's important to have a clear understanding of your blog's value. There are many factors that can impact the value of a blog, including traffic, revenue, expenses, and growth potential.
10. Invest
Investing in your business is one of the best ways to grow your income.
Investing in new tools, courses, or even hiring help can help you to scale your business more quickly.
You can also invest your money in the stock market or in real estate to grow your income.
I personally love investing in the stock market and am a huge fan of index funds.
Index funds are a great way to invest in the stock market because they are low cost and low risk.
You can invest in index funds with as little as $100 and it's a great way to grow your income over time.
11. Work with a Financial Advisor
No matter what stage of the game you're in, it's always a good idea to work with a financial advisor.
They can help you with your taxes, retirement planning, budgeting, saving for a big purchase, and more.
It's also a great idea to have a financial advisor on board if you're a blogger or influencer who makes a lot of money.
They can help you with things like estate planning, wealth management, and more.
You can find a financial advisor through a company like Facet Wealth, which offers virtual financial planning services.
You can also find a financial advisor through a company like SmartAsset, which offers a free financial advisor matching service.
Conclusion
Don't forget to keep your reader's experience in mind. If you're going to use pop-ups, make sure they are easy to close and not too aggressive. Also, don't forget to check the mobile experience.
There are many ways to monetize your blog that don't involve ads. If you're just starting out, I recommend starting with affiliate marketing and sponsored posts. Then, you can add in some of the other methods we've discussed.
